This 3" tall two-tone satin ornament tells the story of the Christmas customs of Denmark. Crafted of glass exclusively for Bronner's from Hungary, our Danish Christmas custom ornament is sure to be a fun and enlightening conversation piece for years to come!
Custom on the back of the ornament reads:
The season begins with the preparation of the Advent wreath and Advent calendar. After a candlelight church service on Christmas Eve, families enjoy a festive dinner. After dinner the children are allowed to see the Christmas tree decorated with straw ornaments, birds, apples, hearts, and kraemmerhus (cone-shaped baskets filled with treats). Members of the family join hands, circle the tree, and sing carols before opening gifts. Gifts often include beautiful plates laden with cookies. Julnisse is a Danish elf known for playing tricks; every Christmas Eve he must be given a bowl of rice pudding to ensure his watch over the family and livestock for the coming year.
