This 3" tall two-tone satin ornament tells the story of the Christmas customs of Armenia. Crafted of glass exclusively for Bronner's from Hungary, our Armenian Christmas custom ornament is sure to be a fun and enlightening conversation piece for years to come!
Custom on the back of the ornament reads:
The Armenian Christmas is celebrated on January 6. Armenians prepare for Christmas by fasting, eating no animal food for a week and no food at all on the day before Christmas. After the Christmas Eve church service, the fast is broken with a family meal. The children then go onto the roofs, sing carols, and wave handkerchiefs, which adults fill with treats. At the Christmas Day church service, water is blessed and taken home by the congregation to be used for purification during the Christmas season. At home it is mixed with earth, kept in a special bowl, and used for symbolic cleansing of dishes and other household items. There is much visiting during the Christmas season.
